Issue 8: Top Stories This Week (Burkina Faso)
This week’s Voices of the Persecuted covers persecution taking placing in Burkina Faso, West Africa. The country is currently ranked #20 on the Open Doors World Watch List.
Whilst the government controls roughly half of the country, the other half is controlled by Islamist militants. Converts from Islam to Christianity face severe persecution.
Churches have been burnt down, schools destroyed, and several believers displaced, forced to leave their homes behind.
In the video, we tell the story of Pastor Soré and his family, who fled their village in Burkina Faso to escape militant attacks.
Annette’s husband, along with the pastor and three others were killed by Islamic militants. In this video we describe her journey of escape and her resolve to hold onto her Christian faith.
“The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.” - Psalm 34:17
“Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.” - Hebrews 13:3
